Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco - a Canadian as well as an American musician and singer. Her albums span over 20 years. Her music is classified as folk-rock and alternative rock although it includes influences from punk funk hip music and jazz. Ani Difranco is widely considered to be a symbol of music that is feminist. In the year 1990, she was among the first people to launch her own independent record label. DiFranco's parents were Elizabeth (Ross), a previous student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dante Americo DiFranco met each the other when they were students at the same school. Her mother and father were both of Montreal descent. Ani's song, 32 Flavors was written by her and is performed by Ani. It is featured on the album Not a Pretty Girl by Ani DiFranco, that was released in 1996. This track appears on the film soundtrack for the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate from 1999. In 2013, DiFranco apologized after it was revealed that she was hosting a three-day workshop at a former Louisiana slave plantation. The course was later cancelled yet she refused to express regret. DiFranco issued another apology several days later.
